This morning’s meditation is offered by Joanna Manning, who describes herself variously as a “post—denominational former catholic” and as a “recovering catholic.” She is the author of two books, Is the Pope Catholic? A Woman Confronts her Church, and Take Back the Truth: Confronting Papal Power and the Religious Right. Today, she shares insights from her forthcoming book, The Magdalene Moment, a Vision for a New Christianity. In particular, she describes how the recovery of Magdalene Christianity (through newly found texts and fresh insights) can bring about a “greening” of the original soul of Christianity. Readings are from John 20:11-18 and an excerpt from the Magdalene Moment.
